Let me introduce myself
Hello! My name is April Twenhafel and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’d like to share a little bit of my story so you can have a sense of who I am. After going to college to become a social worker, I spent 4 years in community work. I helped many people from all walks of life and backgrounds who shared one thing in common - pain. Although I loved helping them in the midst of their crisis, I could see there were deeper things they needed to work through and often referred them to licensed professionals. It was from my time in that field I realized I wanted to journey with people through the healing process. I went to graduate school to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I’ve been in this field for 14 years and absolutely love that this is my job.
Let’s talk therapy
Since you are exploring therapists, that tells me there is something going on in your life that is painful or interfering with you living life to the fullest. Perhaps you’ve tried therapy before. Maybe you’ve tried everything else . . . books, exercise, friends, or unhealthy ways of coping. This could even be your first time reaching out to anyone. Wherever you are in your journey, I’m glad you are open to therapy and seeking out the life you want and deserve. I believe in working together, you can achieve your goals and live your life more abundantly.
As my client, you will be given a warm, safe space to address the things in life that are weighing you down. It can be scary to meet a stranger and invite them into the sacred spaces of your heart and mind. I invite you to schedule a free phone consultation with me to get a feel of my personality and if we are a good fit to work together. Although I work with a variety of clinical issues, my specialities include:
Trauma and PTSD
Depression
Anxiety
Relational Issues

Personal Life
I grew up in the Midwest and moved to Las Vegas in 2002. I spent three years there doing social work before pursuing my degree in California. Although I love my life in Cali, I seriously miss Fall in Illinois. I am now the person who needs a sweater if it is below 70 degrees. My husband and two kids keep me busy when I’m not working. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and there is so much of this world I still want to see!
